At around four and a half years of age, I threw a tantrum on the steps of Furtados School of Music, Bandra. I was angry for being made to wait while my sister finished her piano class. I insisted that I should attend the class as well. My mother relented, and there started my journey of playing the piano. A journey that has seen a fruitful progression, with me ready to appear for my Grade 8 Piano Examination of the Trinity School of Music next month.
There were a few key milestones along this journey. One was winning second place in the Kawai National Piano Competition (Juniors), 2019. The other was being selected to participate in The Juilliard School’s online Summer and Winter Program, 2021.
Playing the piano brings me peace and comfort. Learning this instrument has instilled in me the values of focus and discipline. I am sure that this musical journey I have embarked on will continue well into my future.
